The signs are rarely loud
Exam stress seldom announces itself. It shows up as headaches, stomach upsets, snapping at siblings, late night scrolling and a sudden hatred of subjects they used to enjoy.
By the time a child says the words I am stressed, they have usually been carrying it silently for weeks.
What helps more than pressure
Sleep beats one more hour of revision, every single time. A rested brain recalls more than an exhausted one that studied longer.
Predictable meals, movement and screen boundaries create the physical base that focus is built on. And one honest conversation, where the child hears that their worth is not their percentage, lowers the temperature of the whole house.
When support should go further
If anxiety is causing sleepless nights, tears, blanking out in tests or physical symptoms, structured support helps. Counselling gives students tools for the pressure, and gentle clinical care can steady sleep and nerves during the season.
We also run exam resilience sessions in schools across Goa. If your school could use one, we would love to hear from you.
